15/06/2016 15:52So I have had rather a lot of fun watching some of the marvelous lectures by Professor Miraglia. His spoken Latin, whilst not to everyone's taste, is one of the most fluent and passionate I have ever heard. If you have the chance, do try and track some of his work down.

03/06/2013 23:20I use this site to throw words at a screen and sometimes some wonderful people tell me what they think of them, please join in. I am fumbling and a footling towards using more modern approaches to look at some less well known aspects of a few wonderful ancient religions and the people and stories behind them. I also have put some draft papers of subjects that perked my interests of in the first place. These are not published papers they are my weekend and after hours ramblings. I am on Academic sites if you want to read anything that has been edited and deemed fit for human consumption.
Ancient Goddesses,Myths and Realities?
29/03/2013 20:37I have been researching the snake imagery of Minoan culture through critical eyes of those,such as Haralampos Harissis, that find the snake room to be lacking in the ritual context usually held for this room, but instead present it to be an apiarisitic room.
From this I have been delving further into the Goddess Myth, the idea of an Ancient Earth Mother has major issues, which I am keen to look into. I have been researching the varying figurines from Upper Palaeolithic through to Classical Roman times.

For a foray into the evidence for and against the Goddess Myth, there is a fabulous collection of academic papers in Ancient Goddesses, edited by Lucy Goodison and Christine Morris. This really is a great place to start weighing the evidence on the subject.

09/11/2012 15:51I have a great interest in the liminal deities, the chthonic and the downright weird. Currently reading into the earliest forms of Hekate and will hopefully write some nonsense on the subject soon. My dog is not too keen on her sacrificial tendencies.
