Education of Latin
02/10/2016 15:57
I have been looking into the work of experts such as Prof. Miraglia on the best way to really teach Latin as a living language that can unite scholars from across the world. There has been a certain amount of stagnation in the education of Latin purely as a grammatical construct, and this harms...
Spoken Latin and Teaching Methods

So I have had rather a lot of fun watching some of the marvelous lectures by Professor Miraglia. His spoken Latin, whilst not to everyone's taste, is one of the most fluent and passionate I have ever heard. If you have the chance, do try and track some of his work down.
Word to those expecting polished wonderful edited prose.

I use this site to throw words at a screen and sometimes some wonderful people tell me what they think of them, please join in. I am fumbling and a footling towards using more modern approaches to look at some less well known aspects of a few wonderful ancient religions and the people and stories...
Ancient Goddesses,Myths and Realities?

I have been researching the snake imagery of Minoan culture through critical eyes of those, such as Haralampos Harissis, that find the snake room to be lacking in the ritual context usually held for this room, but instead present it to be an apiarisitic room.

Well! Loads of fun footling about Mithraic Cults and some rather fun excursions through the Catcombs of Rome. Lurking under Rome lies some fantastic wee insights into both the top Brass (Early Bishops of Rome) but also some great graffiti and personal touches from everyday folk. I will put...

‘Come, I will speak my mind; and in the name of Destiny and the Fates take not my candour amiss. If the case stands thus, if the Fates are mistresses of all, and their decisions unalterable, then why do...
Chthonic Dieties
09/11/2012 15:51
I have a great interest in the liminal deities, the chthonic and the downright weird. Currently reading into the earliest forms of Hekate and will hopefully write some nonsense on the subject soon. My dog is not too keen on her sacrificial tendencies. Any thoughts ideas, get in touch and help me...
Reality
01/11/2012 19:55
In the liminal spaces of the universe things are beyond the comprehension of a material mind. A mind constrained by the material world, unable to reach further than the sum of its parts. For most of us this will always be whether we recognise this or not, we are unable to reach those...
A brief analysis of Aristotle's argument for the existence of the Unmoved Mover.

According to Aristotle, everything in motion is moved by something else, as any possible self moving object must contain parts in order to be in motion and this object must move as a whole not just in parts. It also must originate its own motion but this seems impossible; as if any part...
